While working as a teacher and basketball coach in Alabama, RaMell Ross filmed the local community over the course of five years. A profound humanism lies at the heart of this impressionistic, politically evocative work—a welcome portrait of the Black American South, nominated for the Oscars®.

Soothing sounds of radio crackle and gurgling cauldrons mix with Deep South patter in this richly textured, relaxed documentary from Nickel Boys director RaMell Ross. Capturing hard-to-see things like tacit knowledge and muscle memory, Easter Snap savors slow, skilled work in the age of automation.
