“I never had to think, as a child, about what I was going to be… I just went on being. I knew. In my family, which was very dysfunctional, I knew I could bring them all together if I performed. If I even drew very well, or recited a poem, or sang a song, or made them laugh I could bring them all together around the cozy at night. And that was what I wanted to do.”
